Cordos Construction mobilized at Spencer Elementary in late August of 2024 to complete the playground renovation. The project included a new storm water retention system comprised of 12 underground chambers and three new catch basins. The site is paved with new asphalt, concrete, permeable pavers, and a sustainable rubberized surface at play areas. The park features two play areas, a sports court, and an outdoor classroom; with each area connected via accessible pathways. Cordos’ team for this project included 30% Minority-Owned Business Enterprise and 13.5% Woman-Owned Business Enterprise participation.
Cordos’ team expertly managed scheduling work onsite while simultaneously coordinating procurement and delivery from a multitude of specialty vendors and installers, supplying various individual pieces of equipment such as bike racks, exterior furniture, turf, sporting equipment, and more.
The playground renovation at Spencer Elementary Technology Academy aimed to modernize the school’s outdoor area for safety, ADA accessibility, and contemporary education standards. Featuring play areas for both younger and middle age groups, the new space fosters learning and growth for young students, while meeting the educational needs of the teachers and staff.
