As part of a larger program of playground and outdoor education renovations for Chicago Public Schools, Cordos mobilized at three (3) south side schools in June of 2023. Each project included new storm drainage structures, paving and concrete, playground equipment, fencing, and landscaping. Cordos’ team for this project included 30% Minority Business Enterprise and 13.5% Women Business Enterprise participation.

All three small sites had challenging logistics and fast-paced schedules. Cordos’ onsite team managed scheduling and procurement with Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery to ensure that work was continuous and the two month deadline for preliminary acceptance was met.

In mid August of 2023, all three sites achieved an on-time preliminary acceptance while the landscaping was established. At this time, the spaces were open for student use. Final acceptance and punchlist were completed in October, establishing Cordos as a preferred contractor for future CPS projects.
