As part of a larger program of playground and outdoor education renovations for Chicago Public Schools, Cordos began early procurement for the two (2) north side elementary schools in March of 2023. Each project included new storm drainage structures, paving and concrete, modern playground equipment, fencing, and landscaping. Cordos’ team for this project included 30% Minority Business Enterprise and 13.5% Women Business Enterprise participation.

Cordos mobilized at the two schools in April of 2023 to begin demolition and earthwork. Both sites had challenging logistics and fast-paced schedules. Cordos’ onsite team managed latent conditions, schedule issues, and procurement to ensure that work was continuous and the deadline for preliminary acceptance was met.

Preliminary acceptance for both sites was achieved on time for school commencement in August. Cordos worked closely with the schools after class began to complete landscaping and punchlist without affecting the schools’ daily activity. Both projects achieved final completion in November of 2023.
